NBA Insider Loves What He is Seeing From the Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are one of the best stories of the NBA so far this season. They are currently 7–4 in the Eastern Conference, tied with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks for the third-best record in the conference. Many were wondering what the Heat would be this season, and they’ve come out and proved to everyone that they expect to be in the mix for the Eastern Conference crown.

What is equally impressive is that the Heat are doing all of this without their leading scorer from last season. Tyler Herro is still recovering from injury and has yet to play a game this season.

In his absence, multiple guys are stepping up. Most noticeably, however, are their new addition, Norman Powell, who is averaging 24.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, and young forward Jaime Jaquez Jr., who is up to averaging 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game, huge increases from last season’s averages.

NBA insider Zach Lowe sang the praises of this Heat team recently on his podcast.

“Wiggins has been fantastic for them. They’re rock solid… I think this is a really good team. I love Spo after a gazillion years playing a specific offensive system post LeBron was like You know what, throw it all in the trash, let’s try this new thing. So far it’s working.”

With the Heat clicking, other teams need to be wary. When Herro returns, they’ll have another weapon to utilize. If the Heat can continue building chemistry and Herro’s addition doesn’t hurt them too much defensively, they could be a surprise Eastern Conference contender this season.
