Warriors' Rookie is Doing and Saying All the Right Things Early On
Nov 11, 2025
The Golden State Warriors may have found a diamond in the rough. With the 56th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, they selected Will Richard from Florida. Richard won an NCAA championship at Florida, but due to his age and lack of major upside, he found himself falling down the NBA Draft.
So far this season, however, it seems like the Warriors may have gotten a steal. Richard is averaging 17 minutes a game for the Warriors, scoring 10.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per contest. Even more impressive is that he’s been incredibly efficient, which, for a rookie, is very rare. He is shooting nearly 60% from the field and over 40% from three.
Even off the court, Richard is doing and saying all the right things.
“I grew up watching the Warriors, so for me, Steph and Dray and all them, they've made my childhood so I feel like every time I'm on the court, I need to pay that back.”
This is the type of maturity that Warriors fans are loving from Richard. He seems like he’s been in the league for years, not months.

Steve Kerr saw the signs from Will Richard right away.
“Early on in camp, you could see he really knew how to play. He’s constantly making the right cut, the right pass, he’s solid… He’s going to contribute quite a bit for us this year.”
The Warriors need players like Richard to help the next iteration of Warriors basketball. When the Warriors’ legendary veterans start to slow down, it will be the leadership and play of people like Richard who need to carry the torch.
