Top Western Conference Team To Make Run At Giannis Antetokounmpo This Summer
Mar 25, 2026
In recent times, there's been nothing but drama surrounding the Milwaukee Bucks, with many expecting them to deal the biggest star that the franchise has ever had in Giannis Antetokounmpo. While that didn't happen ahead of the 2026 trade deadline, this summer is another time for the discussions to begin again, and with the team struggling mightily this season, it's likely the best move for the organization to make.
Unsurprisingly, there's expected to be plenty of interest in the two-time MVP, even if his 2025/26 campaign has been riddled with injuries, one that the Bucks are trying to exploit to keep him off the floor. As of right now, we don't know which teams will pursue him the hardest, but according to Chris Mannix, the Houston Rockets are a team that's expected to make a 'major run' at him this off-season.
When healthy this season, Antetokounmpo has been fantastic as always, averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists per game, and if he is back to 100%, there's no doubting that many teams out there will pursue him as a trade target.

On paper, the Rockets are a true contender in the West this season, and while they gave up some big assets to land Kevin Durant this past summer, landing another former MVP would not be a bad move. Ultimately, it all depends on what the Bucks want for the two-time MVP, but if he truly does become available, the Rockets are a team that represent a perfect match for Giannis and Milwaukee.
