Pat Beverley States This One Star Point Guard Isn't A Hall of Famer

Talk around the NBA has always come with some controversy, and with so many former players getting into podcasting and analytic work for top networks, we've seen personal grudges and interesting takes from so many players.

That includes Patrick Beverley, with the former role player hosting one of the most popular podcasts in the NBA world, with the 12-year veteran no stranger to controversial takes. Now, he's potentially topped that all, as he recently discussed Damian Lillard, and while many respect the veteran point guard, Beverley was clear in stating that he believes Dame isn't a Hall of Fame caliber player.

"Hell no! I love Dame. ... It's too many people get in the Hall of Fame. ... How we gonna say no to [Derrick Rose] getting MVP and say yes to Dame Lillard? If he get a chip, for sure."

The biggest reason for Beverley's take? Lillard's lack of an NBA Championship, as he not only has never won a ring at the NBA level, but he's never been particularly close, even on some of the loaded Trail Blazers teams that he had early in his NBA career.

Based on pure numbers, it's hard to deny Lillard's HOF candidacy, as his scoring average of 25.11 ranks him 13th all-time while also ranking top 45 in assists, and with time to go, there's a good chance he climbs those ranks even more. Ultimately, there's some HOF guarantees in the NBA right now, and while Lillard isn't one of them, if he can get healthy and have another few productive years, he'll no doubt find himself in the Hall of Fame one day.
