Former First Overall Pick Signs With The Toronto Raptors
Mar 24, 2026
The Toronto Raptors have built quite an impressive young core in recent years, and while they've slowed down after a red-hot start this season, optimism is still high for the future of this organization. However, there's still plenty of room for improvement, and recently, they made a solid addition to give themselves another former top draft pick.
On Monday, the team officially signed former first overall pick Markelle Fultz, inking him to a 10-day contract as he looks to revive his NBA career.
This comes after Fultz appeared in 21 games for the Sacramento Kings a year ago, averaging 3 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist per game across 9 minutes of action. Not one to waste time, Fultz made his debut with Toronto on Monday night against the Utah Jazz, putting up 2 points and 5 assists in 18 minutes of action as they came away winners 143-127.

Once upon a time, Fultz was seen as one of the biggest busts in NBA history, as he was a major fail for the Philadelphia 76ers (especially with Jayson Tatum selected not long after), but now, he's clearly trying everything he can to get back in the league and prove people wrong. Ultimately, Fultz has the talent to be a solid player at the NBA level, and while he's never going to be a star, if he can find a role somewhere, hopes are high for him to have a solid NBA career.
