Sacramento Kings Looking To Unload Top Veteran Despite Little Interest Around The League

Just a few short years ago, the Sacramento Kings were a promising young team on the rise in the Western Conference, and after finally getting back to the playoffs, many saw them as a very good team moving forward. However, they've made some shock decisions since then, deciding to build around a veteran core, rather than the young core they had started to put together.

Now, they're off to another poor start with their new veteran lineup, posting a record of 9-30 that has them sitting above only the New Orleans Pelicans in the Western Conference. As a result, they've been surrounded by trade speculation this season, with some of their veterans reportedly ready to be dealt.

According to Evan Sidery, the team are eager to move on from DeMar DeRozan, but given the contract a team would have to take on, there's little to no interest in him around the league.

This season, DeRozan has been a consistent contributor once more, averaging 19 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists per game, but given that he's owed $54 million over the next two seasons, it's easy to see why there's little interest in him on the trade market.

Ultimately, DeRozan could be a go-to scorer for a contending team ahead of the trade deadline, but given how much he's owed and what a team may have to give up, it's more likely than not that he'll be in Sacramento for the remainder of the season.
