Jalen Williams Defends His Brother Cody Following Historically Bad Night
Jan 13, 2026
Back on January 10th, two of the NBA's worst teams went to battle when the Utah Jazz took on the Charlotte Hornets, and in a shocking performance, it was the latter that absolutely dominated. On the Jazz' home floor, the Hornets put up an impressive 150 points, with nine players, including all five starters putting up double-digits points on the night.
However, it was a performance on the other side that drew the most attention, with Cody Williams putting up just 15 points in a historic performance with a -60 point differential. It was the worst single game performance in NBA history, but after the game, his brother, NBA Champion Jalen has come out and defended him after it.
“He played well… Let’s highlight that, I had a -40 and won a Finals, plus minus a useless stat.”
While +/- isn't the be all, end all for players in any sport, it certainly shows when they fail to have impact, and while a -10 may not be bad, a -60 is one of the worst numbers we've ever seen in the NBA. That doesn't mean that Williams didn't have an impact however, as he was the third highest scorer in the game for the Jazz, but at the end of the day, it's easy to accept that it was just a bad night.

Ultimately, it's not going to be the end of Williams' career, as he can bounce back and people will forget about this night, but as far as his brother is concerned, this wasn't too bad a performance for the young Jazz wing.
