Toronto Raptors Expected To Shop Young Point Guard For A 'Win Now' Piece

The Toronto Raptors came into 2025/26 with relatively high expectations, and thus far they've delivered as they have a record of 24-17 through their first 41 games of the season. That comes on the back of the play of their young core led by RJ Barrett, Scottie Barnes and Brandon Ingram, and given the versatility of this lineup, they're becoming a genuine contender in the wide open Eastern Conference.

The team sitting in fourth in the standings has given them some internal pressure to now push for a 'win-now' piece, and as a result, that could mean some big trades incoming.

The piece most likely to be going out? According to NBA Insider Brett Siegel, that would be young guard Immanuel Quickley, who is expected to be shopped by the team in the coming weeks.

While Quickley has shown some immense flashes in Toronto, averaging 17 points and 6 assists with the team, it's just clear as of right now that he's not a starting point guard on a contending team. These rumors have now led to speculation that the team could pursue Ja Morant from the Memphis Grizzlies, and given Quickley's potential, he could be a solid piece (among others) to go back to Memphis or any team they look to make a deal with.

Ultimately, Quickley is still a good young piece in the NBA, and while the Raptors don't see him as a fit as they move towards contention, he could be used as a very valuable piece in a blockbuster trade in the coming months.
