Multiple Teams Are Expected To Show Interest In Memphis Grizzlies Star Ahead Of The Deadline
Jan 12, 2026
The Memphis Grizzlies have been a consistent fixture in the Western Conference playoff picture in recent years, but in 2025/26, they've taken a clear step backwards. With a record of 17-22, they currently sit in the final play-in spot in the West, and as 2026 gets underway, it appears as though they're ready to shake things up.
As of right now, all of the attention goes to Ja Morant, and given the tensions that existed between he and Head Coach Tuomas Iisalo earlier in the season, it's still expected that they could deal their star guard ahead of the trade deadline. Now however, Jake Fischer is reporting that several contending teams are set to contact Memphis about their other star, Jaren Jackson Jr., who has stepped up as this teams biggest leader over the past few seasons.
With 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.5 blocks per game this season, JJJ is once again doing it all, and given how valuable that production could be to a true contender, it makes sense that he'll draw immense interest on the trade market.

These rumors aren't new however, as there's been interest in JJJ dating back to the summer, but at the time, the Grizzlies had no interest in moving their star big man. Given their start to the season however, things may have changed in Memphis, and if the offers are big enough, there's a chance that the Grizzlies could blow it up and move both Morant and JJJ.
