Philadelphia 76ers Suffer New Injury Setback to Young Guard Jared McCain
Sep 26, 2025
Last season, the Philadelphia 76ers struggled mightily, but among that, they saw some major positives, with one of those being first-round pick Jared McCain. Early in his rookie campaign, McCain adjusted to the NBA game very quickly, averaging 15 points and 3 assists across his first 23 games.
Unfortunately, they would be the only games he played in his rookie year, as he suffered a season-ending injury, and despite the heartbreak, he set the tone for a very bright future in Philadelphia. With the addition of VJ Edgecombe, the Sixers’ backcourt is loaded with young talent, but unfortunately, heading into his second season, McCain has been dealt another major setback.
According to recent reports, the talented guard suffered a UCL tear in his hand, with the team now working toward a resolution that may involve surgery.
It's unclear at this point in time whether or not McCain will miss significant regular-season action, but as of right now, it's highly likely that he will miss at least a few weeks of the regular season. This is another brutal blow for McCain after his rookie season was cut short after showing so much potential, and now, he's got to battle his way back to 100% once again.

Ultimately, fans are hoping for the best on the injury front for McCain, as he is among the most likable players in the entire NBA, with the Sixers likely to announce the next steps and the recovery process in the coming days.
