Herb Jones Addresses Criticism Of His Dress Style After Signing Massive New Deal

Herb Jones has emerged as one of the NBA's best defenders for the New Orleans Pelicans, becoming a key piece of the organization alongside Trey Murphy III, José Alvarado, and Zion Williamson.

While the Pelicans are yet to make a deep push in the NBA Playoffs, the no-nonsense style of Jones and the young core have their fans incredibly excited about the future. However, it's the no-nonsense dress style of Jones away from the court that’s drawn attention before, as he famously wears team gear to the arena ahead of every game.

That's something he discussed after signing a four-year, $67.5 million extension, and even despite the criticism of his decision to wear team gear, he reveals that he'll continue to do so.

“Nothing has changed. If my family is good, I'm cool. I don’t really care about what anyone says about clothes, especially going to a basketball game... You’re putting your uniform on in five minutes in the locker room.”

Realistically, wearing team gear to the arena makes the most sense, as Jones notes that players go straight into the locker room to change anyway, but for some reason, fans out there still criticize the way that he comes dressed to games.

Ultimately, though, it's the best and most affordable option for players, and given that Jones was never sure if a big extension was coming his way, it's great to see him sticking to what worked for him leading into his success in the NBA and subsequent extension.
