Netflix's Starting 5 Season Two is Debuting Soon, Featuring New NBA Stars
Sep 19, 2025
It is the dog days of the NBA calendar. Basketball-wise, nothing is going on. That’s why the release of Season Two of Netflix’s Starting 5 NBA documentary has drummed up a lot of excitement in NBA circles. Last season, the docuseries followed five NBA stars, LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Domantas Sabonis, and Anthony Edwards. This season, a new Starting 5 will be featured.
Starting 5 Season Two will feature Jaylen Brown, Kevin Durant, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Tyrese Haliburton, and James Harden. Season Two will be released on October 16.
Many are hoping that this new crop of players brings a lot more intrigue and excitement to the show after a somewhat lackluster first season. Because of the way the 2024-25 NBA season went down, we can expect some pretty awesome behind-the-scenes looks.

First of all, two of the stars of this season faced off in the 2025 NBA Finals. Not only are viewers going to get to experience the excitement of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers' deep playoff runs, but also the heartbreak of Haliburton’s injury and the glory of SGA’s Finals MVP. Getting an inside look at two of the best young stars in the league should be a treat.
For the other, more veteran stars, we can expect some good content as well. Jaylen Brown will likely be a bore, but Kevin Durant and James Harden have the opportunity to really entertain.
Durant is known for his blunt, no-bullshit personality. We are going to watch him as the dysfunction of last season’s Phoenix Suns team plays out. We will hopefully get some insight into the midseason trade rumors, as well as potentially some locker-room drama in Phoenix.
Harden doesn’t show us much about his life. He is known as a partier, but unlike some other NBA stars, he isn’t constantly doing interviews or podcasts. His section of the show will hopefully shed some light on his after-hours behavior, as well as his little-known home life.
Regardless of what Season Two of Netflix’s Starting 5 shows us, NBA fans can get excited that more NBA content is coming to save us from the boring part of the offseason.
