Cleveland Cavaliers Sign Two Players To Bolster Their Depth
Sep 24, 2025
The Cleveland Cavaliers were the best regular-season team in the Eastern Conference in 2024/25, but unfortunately, the team fell short when it mattered most. However, with the likes of Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Darius Garland leading the way, this team is once more optimistic heading into the new campaign.
However, they certainly needed to add to their depth after injuries derailed their season late in the year, and now, they've done just that. According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Cavaliers inked former Indiana Pacers big man Thomas Bryant to a one-year deal, as he's likely to play a similar depth role to what he played in Indiana last season.
The team wasn't done there, however, as they added perhaps one of the more intriguing players still available, signing former first-round pick Killian Hayes to a one-year deal as well.
While Hayes has never quite lived up to the hype of being a first-round pick in the NBA, he has shown some flashes, and given the limited role he'll play in Cleveland if he wins a roster spot, this may be his time to flourish.
With these two additions, the Cavaliers now have one of the deepest rosters in the NBA, and given the injuries in Boston and Indiana, the East is now wide open. Sure, the signings of Bryant and Hayes won't change the entire outcome for Cleveland in 2025/26, but after how injuries affected them a year ago, these are some very savvy pickups.
