Reporter Reveals Ben Simmons Agent Dropped Him After He Shunned Knicks Interest
Sep 9, 2025
Ben Simmons’ situation has been constantly changing and evolving this summer, and over the past two days, some major shifts have taken place.
Firstly, we know that Simmons turned down any interest from the New York Knicks, a contending team that was looking to offer him the veteran minimum heading into 2025/26. Secondly, his long-time agent cut ties with Simmons, and with rumors circulating about his potential retirement, this certainly isn't ideal.
Now, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post has revealed that those two points are connected, noting that his agent's decision was a result of the first point.
“Simmons’ agent, Bernie Lee, recently dropped him as a client, according to Stein. A source said the decision occurred after the point guard sent signals that he wasn’t interested in whatever came from his agent’s conversations with the Knicks.”
Obviously, Simmons’ agent was hoping he could take a one-year deal on a contender, one that could potentially lead to bigger things down the line, but without big money being offered, Simmons clearly wasn't interested. Now, all signs are pointing towards a potential retirement for the former No. 1 overall pick, as there likely isn't a team out there in the NBA willing to give him significant money this offseason.

While Simmons still has the talent, the lack of motivation and the injuries have seemingly caught up with him, and unless something drastic changes in the near future, his NBA career could quickly be coming to an end.
