NBA GM's Vote Erik Spoelstra As The NBA's Best Head Coach

Across the NBA, there are fantastic coaches with different skill sets and styles they bring to their teams. However, among them are elite coaches such as Mark Daigneault, Steve Kerr, and Erik Spoelstra, the latter of whom has been honored for his work yet again heading into the new season, despite a less-than-stellar season for the Miami Heat in 2024–25.

During the latest NBA GM poll, General Managers were asked to rate the best Head Coaches in the NBA, and unsurprisingly, Spoelstra was the uncontested No. 1 once more.

This season, he got 52% of the vote from the GMs, and while that's down from 69% a year ago, Oklahoma City Thunder Head Coach Daigneault stepped up to take 34% of the vote this season. That should be no surprise given that he led the Thunder to their first-ever NBA Championship this past season, but as always, it's the Heat's bench boss who is respected most around the NBA.

This comes despite the overall success of the Miami Heat, who have struggled since Jimmy Butler led the team to the 2020 NBA Finals, with the lineup now looking like a shell of its former self. Despite that, there are many coaches around the NBA that wouldn't get much out of this roster, but on a yearly basis, Spoelstra continually has this team in contention for the postseason, and clearly, front offices still see him as an elite-level coach.
