Doc Rivers Reveals His Message to Kyle Kuzma Ahead of the Regular Season

The Milwaukee Bucks roster has been transformed since their 2021 NBA Championship, and now, they're heading into a new season full of optimism and some very high expectations. While most of that expectation rests on multi-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, the team has added some immense talent in recent times, such as Myles Turner and Kyle Kuzma, that could really help this team.

Perhaps it's the latter that holds the most untapped potential for this team, and heading into the 2025/26 campaign, Head Coach Doc Rivers has revealed the message he's given to the former first-round pick.

“In Washington, he could literally take any shot. In those five years in Washington, he took a ton of midrange shots and that’s just not what we want and so he got the message.”

Unlike in Washington, Rivers wants Kuzma to know that now, he can't take any shot that he wants to, but with the talent to do just that, he can affect the game in a more efficient way this season. With Giannis putting so much pressure on the rim, that opens up space for Kuzma and Turner to get their shots from the outside, with Rivers wanting Kuzma to know that mid-range shots for him aren't the answer, suggesting he wants more volume from three.

Ultimately, Kuzma is a volume scorer and will need to be that to contribute to any Bucks success in 2025, and if he follows Rivers' message, this could be the best year of his career to date.
