Anthony Davis Reveals Major Change For the Remainder of his Career

Anthony Davis' career took a surprising turn in 2024-25, with the Los Angeles Lakers' big man traded to the Dallas Mavericks in a shock deal that included superstar guard Luka Dončić. Now, with the arrival of Cooper Flagg, there's renewed optimism in Dallas that this team can be a genuine contender, with Davis now set to play a starring role in 2025-26, given the injury to star guard Kyrie Irving.

However, it's been revealed that he will have to do so while undergoing a major change, as Marc Stein reported that Davis will now need to wear protective eyewear for the remainder of his NBA career.

This offseason, Davis reportedly underwent surgery to repair a detached retina, and following a mandate from his doctor, he'll be forced to wear some type of protective eyewear. As a result, Davis will join many iconic NBA players who wore eyewear, such as James Worthy, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Horace Grant, among many, many others.

Davis has not revealed the style of eyewear that he will be rocking starting this season, and while the look is no doubt important, as it is how he may be remembered by many throughout NBA history, what is most important is the comfort for the Mavericks' star center. With Davis surrounded by the likes of Cooper Flagg, Klay Thompson, D'Angelo Russell, and others heading into 2025–26, the confidence is high for this Mavericks team, and if he can adjust to the eyewear, this isn't a team to take lightly this season.
