Anthony Edwards Reveals One Piece Of Advice That He Got From Michael Jordan This Summer

When it comes to Anthony Edwards, one of the running jokes has been that he’s a secret offspring of Michael Jordan. In particular, fans have noticed the resemblance in features, speech patterns, and gameplay between the two players.

Though it’s highly unlikely that this is true in a literal sense, there’s no denying that Edwards has a special connection to the six-time NBA champion. As a matter of fact, the Minnesota Timberwolves star recently revealed that he’s gotten some special advice from Jordan this summer.

“I think the best tip that he gave me is that most people lean on people in the post with their [butt], and he does it with the top part of his back,” Edwards revealed. “I think I learned that from him.”

To hear an up-and-coming star like Edwards talk about Xs and Os is fascinating, but there’s an extra layer of intrigue when he speaks about hardcourt wisdom given by His Airness. Jordan, of course, was known for his deadly turnaround jumper in the low post, which he perfected through years of properly positioning his body against defenders.

Perhaps realizing that he had just name-dropped an all-time great of the sport, Edwards quickly clarified that he didn’t have an intimate friendship with Jordan just yet.

“We don’t really have a relationship like how y’all think we got one right now,” he pointed out. “That’ll come in years to come, but right now, it was just through somebody.”

It may just be a matter of time before Edwards and Jordan dispense with an intermediary and just hang out as a pair of brothers. Or, perhaps more appropriately, a big brother and a little brother. Jordan famously had a brotherly bond with the late Kobe Bryant, and it wasn’t difficult to see how those two hungry athletes gravitated towards each other.

Beyond the physical similarities, Edwards is arguably closest to Jordan in terms of his insatiable competitive drive. It’s this relentless will to win that has helped Ant-Man build a reputation as a lethal scorer in the clutch, just like Jordan was during his heyday in the '80s and '90s.

Will Edwards ever get to win as many titles as Jordan did? Only time will tell, but for now, Edwards has some Jordanesque tweaks that he can add to his game this season.
