Golden State Warriors Likely To Explore a Jonathan Kuminga Trade Following His New Deal
Oct 1, 2025
After months and months of speculation and tension in Golden State, the Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga recently came to terms on a new deal, with many hoping the drama between the parties is now over. That contract pays the 22-year-old rising star $48.5 million over two seasons, with the organization seemingly now set to enter the new campaign with a deep, balanced roster.
However, this may not be the end of the drama involving the former No. 7 overall draft pick, as ESPN's Shams Charania has revealed in his new report. According to Charania, when Kuminga becomes trade eligible in January, the two sides are expected to explore a deal, something that becomes much easier now after he signed his extension.
Now that he's locked in, there is potentially going to be more than just one team interested in the 22-year-old, but given the drama that he's caused this offseason, it's unclear exactly what the market for him truly will end up being. In 24 minutes a night last season, Kuminga averaged 15 points, and clearly, this lack of production and top role is one of the reasons why he wanted to be moved by the team this summer before he eventually settled on an extension.

Ultimately, it appears as though even though we have a new deal for Kuminga, the speculation, the tension, and the drama aren't going anywhere, and when the 2026 trade deadline rolls around, he's expected to be a hot name league-wide in potential trade talks.
