Pistons Trade Idea Gets Them Superstar Guard to Play with Cade Cunningham

The Detroit Pistons may be on the cusp of something special. They had an exciting playoff appearance last season and are looking to build on it this year. With Cade Cunningham leading the way, the young Pistons could definitely be a problem in the Eastern Conference.

Although they are already trending upward, the Pistons don’t need to be complacent. A Pistons trade that would improve their roster both now and down the road is something they should deeply consider.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report recently came out with “Trade Packages and Landing Spots for Top 10 NBA Trade Assets,” and one Pistons trade idea would vastly improve their roster.

“Detroit Pistons receive: Devin Booker

Phoenix Suns receive: Ron Holland II, Jaden Ivey, Tobias Harris, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2029 first-round pick and a 2031 first-round pick

General consensus suggests the Pistons need a legitimate co-star for Cade Cunningham if they want to take the next step. Opinions are split on where and when they should go about finding one.

Some will preach patience and wonder whether this call could be answered in-house, with someone like Ivey, Holland, Ausar Thompson, or Jalen Duren making that kind of jump. Others will cite Cunningham's readiness as a reason to aggressively pursue this player from outside the organization. Pistons governor Tom Gores might be in the latter camp, having stressed back in May that, "Our urgency is not going to stop."”

This would be a huge move for the Pistons. Pairing Cunningham with Booker would instantly give them one of the best backcourts in the league. They’d have to pay a hefty price to land him, but it would be totally worth it. None of the players in this trade are nearly on the level of Booker, and while the NBA is about depth, you need superstars to make that depth matter.

If the Pistons have the opportunity to trade for a star like Booker, they need to take it.
