Jordan Poole Throws Shade at his Old Team When Talking About Pelicans Fans
Oct 27, 2025
The New Orleans Pelicans aren’t known for having the best fan base. New Orleans is a college town in a football state, and the Pelicans have often been forgotten and ignored when it comes to the most popular teams in New Orleans.
Still, when new Pelicans point guard Jordan Poole was asked about his experience playing in the Smoothie King Center, his answer was incredibly positive.
“I loved it. Oh my God, I loved it... It feels so good to be in an environment where the fans are engaged. And you can feel the electricity in there. You can feel the positive energy. You can feel the fans chant. The last 3 years, dead in there. It was dead in Capital One… Obviously, it’s just the first game, and we’ll see how the season goes. Hopefully, our fanbase here keeps just supporting us keeps building with this team because I feel like we are really special.”

This is a bit of a shocker. While the Washington Wizards were absolutely terrible while Poole was on the team, most wouldn’t imagine that those fans were THAT much worse than Pelican fans.
What is even more shocking is that Poole described the energy and electricity in the Smoothie King Center during his first few years in the NBA, playing for the Golden State Warriors. Even though Poole never got to play in the famous Oracle Arena, Warriors fans are considered some of the best in the NBA.
Maybe the tides are turning in New Orleans. They have an exciting young team, and with a rejuvenated fan base behind them, they could make some real noise in the NBA this season.
