Zion Williamson Shockingly Linked To Surprise Eastern Conference Team
Jan 9, 2026
Back in 2019, Zion Williamson entered the NBA as one of the most hyped-up prospects in league history, with many seeing him as the future face of the entire NBA. Unfortunately, inconsistency and injury issues have plagued him over the past six years, and now, it appears as though the New Orleans Pelicans have seemingly had it with the former Duke star.
That has led to plenty of trade speculation involving the former No. 1 overall draft pick, but as of right now, there hasn't exactly been a robust market for him despite averaging 22 points and six rebounds in 23 games this season. Now, it appears there may be some interest in him on the trade market, with Brett Siegel linking Williamson to the Chicago Bulls in a deal that could transform the future of that organization.
"I've heard that there's been some smoke there about Chicago scouting New Orleans in recent weeks, and Zion would be the ideal buy-low candidate for a team like the Bulls, who have a lot of expiring contracts."
Recently, reports emerged that the Pelicans would take the first reasonable offer for Williamson, and as Siegel notes, this would make Zion a fantastic buy-low candidate for a team that's found their backcourt of the future already.

On paper, the 26-year-old still has the talent and the ability to become a true star in the NBA, and perhaps a change of environment is the thing that will change that, so keep a close eye on him moving forward.
