Jalen Williams Discusses Struggles With Past Injury
Jan 12, 2026
The Oklahoma City Thunder seemed to cruise through last season. They dominated the regular season with ease and marched their way to the second NBA Finals in their franchise’s history. Even though it took them seven games to beat the Indiana Pacers, they got the job done.
After the series, it was revealed that their second-best player, Jalen Williams, was dealing with a nagging wrist injury for the entire playoffs.
Jalen averaged 21.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists during the playoffs, which is pretty darn good. However, the fact that he got wrist surgery after the season shows just how hampered his play was.

Jalen missed the first chunk of this season recovering, and he has struggled a bit since coming back. He’s averaging 17.6 points while shooting 28.1% from three compared to 21.6 points on 36.5% from three last year.
“It sucks. It’s a very annoying process. Nobody is going to be more frustrated than me when shots are short. It’s one of those things I gotta learn throughout the game. It’s not like I’m on a bad team where I can jack 40 shots and figure it out that way… This injury is not something where you get two hand surgeries and you’re good to go. It’s over the course, over the year, a year and a half, and have summers to really figure it out.”
With Williams still struggling, the Thunder are finally showing a bit of weakness. Lucky for the Thunder, there is a lot of time before this season’s playoffs start. Hopefully Williams can recover and get back to his old shooting numbers.
