Who Is Set To Become The Face Of The NBA Once Lebron James Retires?

What we have had the luxury to witness with LeBron James is indescribable. The man is 40 years of age and nearly averaged a triple-double a year ago at the highest competitive level.

For years, the classic debate has been LeBron James or Michael Jordan?

Instead of arguing about which player was better in different eras, it feels more fitting to contemplate who James will pass his torch to when he retires.

Rumors have begun circulating that this upcoming season could, in fact, be James' final year in the NBA. If that's the case, who will become the face of the league?

This question is so difficult to answer because multiple superstars like Steph Curry and Kevin Durant are inevitably at the tail-end of their careers as well.

If Curry plays for any length of time once LeBron retires, one would think he would be considered the face of the NBA, being that he is the greatest three-point shooter of all time. However, he is 37 years old himself and unfortunately cannot have that much left in the tank.

One potential candidate for this position would be Milwaukee Bucks superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Antetokounmpo has shown over the years that he is a fierce competitor who is all business on the court, but he will give you a good chuckle in a post-game interview.

Young players like 21-year-old Victor Wembanyama has the makings of "the man" as well but it is difficult to claim that title if you are not on a top-tier team or battling injuries all the time.

Skill-wise, Minnesota Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards made an impressive playoff run this past season and is one of the best young talents in the game. However, with his off the court concerns and antics with the media, it is hard to crown him with the honor of being the face of the league.

Whoever is considered the face of the NBA once LeBron James is no longer playing has some tough shoes to fill. It needs to be someone with great talent who is also a role model to the next generation.
