Bam Adebayo Opens Up On How His 83-Point Game Changed Opinion Of Him
Apr 2, 2026
Up until a few weeks ago, Bam Adebayo was highly respected around the NBA, but the view of him was as a defensive first big man with some very solid offensive weapons in his game. That all changed when he put up a historic night, scoring the second most points in a game in NBA history as he took down the Washington Wizards for a highly impressive 83-point night.
Sure, with an average of 20 PPG this season and a career mark of 16, Adebayo isn't ever going to be considered an elite scorer, but following that game, it's hard to discredit what he's been able to do. Now, the Heat big man has discussed how the perception of him has changed since the scoring outburst, and how teams now have to see him differently as a result.
“When I step on the court you have to guard me now, I can make 7 3s in a game, I can get to the foul line… it’s a different level of respect for my offensive game.”
Plenty of fans still believe that Bam's game was a fluke, but given that we've seen him have solid outbursts before, it's safe to say that he's still got an elite offensive game, even if it's not as consistent as some of the other top scorers in the NBA.

Ultimately, Bam's career may never peak higher than the night when he had an impressive 83 points, but if he can continue averaging a solid 20 points a night, his game will no doubt receive plenty of respect.
