Jason Kidd Addresses Rumors He Was Involved In The Luka Doncic Trade

Over the past 12 months, much has been said about the controversial Luka Doncic trade that saw the Dallas Mavericks send him to the Los Angeles Lakers for perhaps one of the most underwhelming returns in sports history. That deal has already seen General Manager Nico Harrison lose his job, even with the team subsequently landing Cooper Flagg and the next face of the franchise.

However, with Doncic averaging 34 points a game this season and leading the Lakers, there's still plenty of fallout and chatter about the deal that will define the Mavericks for a long time to come. One report that has come out several times has been the involvement of Head Coach Jason Kidd in the deal, with many speculating he had a part to play in dealing the superstar point guard.

Now, Kidd has addressed that speculation directly, confirming that he was only informed at the 11th hour, as he was not consulted about the deal until it was all but completed by Harrison and the Lakers front office.

“I was not apart of the process and I was informed at the 11th hour. And that’s the truth.”

It's unclear if we will ever get the full story on how this deal came together, but for now, Kidd states that he wasn't involved, with many in the organization pointing squarely to Harrison as the party responsible for the deal.

Ultimately though, it's done now and the Mavericks are ready to move on with Flagg leading the way, but given the lackluster return and the shock of it all, it's easy to see why it's still a big talking point in Dallas.
