New Report Reveals The Latest On Cade Cunningham's Status
Apr 3, 2026
In 2024/25, the Detroit Pistons took a step forward, returning to the NBA Playoffs, and in 2025/26, they've taken a huge leap forward, as they are currently locked into the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. One of the key reasons for this is the depth of the team, but as we know, a team will only go as far in the NBA as its biggest superstar will take them.
For Detroit, that's Cade Cunningham, who himself was having a career year, set to be a favorite for First-Team All-NBA before he went down with a brutal injury that has cost him the last few weeks of action. When the announcement was made, there was little knowledge of when the former No. 1 pick would return, and now, we've got our first update on the star point guard.
According to Chris Haynes, Cunningham will be re-evaluated in one week, and while that doesn't mean his return is imminent, it's a good sign ahead of the NBA Playoffs, with the Pistons entering them full of hope and expectations.

In 61 games played this season, Cunningham has posted 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists, and while he's been a great player since arriving in the NBA, 2025/26 has been his emergence into an elite-level superstar. Ultimately, though, this team isn’t a true NBA Championship threat without Cunningham, so Pistons fans will be locked in when the update on their star point guard comes through.
