New Report Reveals The Latest On Cade Cunningham's Status
Apr 3, 2026
In 2024/25, the Detroit Pistons took a step forward, returning to the NBA Playoffs, and in 2025/26, they've taken a huge leap forward, as they are currently locked into the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. One of the key reasons for this is the depth of the team, but as we know, a team will only go as far in the NBA as their biggest superstar will take them.
For Detroit, that's Cade Cunningham, who himself was having a career year, set to be a favorite for First-Team All-NBA before he went down with a brutal injury that has cost him the last few weeks of action. When the announcement was made, there was little knowledge of when the former No. 1 pick would return, and now, we've got our first update on the star point guard.
According to Chris Haynes, Cunningham will be re-evaluated in one week, and while that doesn't mean his return is imminent, it's a good sign ahead of the NBA Playoffs, with the Pistons entering full of hope and expectations.

In 61 games played this season, Cunningham has posted 25 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists, and while he's been a great player since arriving in the NBA, 2025/26 has been his emergence into elite level superstar. Ultimately though, this team aren't true NBA Championship threats without Cunningham, so Pistons fans will be locked in when the update on their star point guard comes through.
