Warriors Trade Idea Has Team Parting Ways With Buddy Hield

The Golden State Warriors probably would like to be in the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes. Unfortunately, they probably don’t have the assets or contract space to trade for another star. That’s why this NBA trade deadline, the Warriors might need to work on the margins to improve their roster.

One thing the Warriors have been lacking this year is size. Their roster is way too guard-heavy, and they don’t have enough rebounding or large bodies to throw at opposing teams’ forwards and centers.

That's where this trade idea from G.C. Bellchamber of Blue Man Hoops comes in. No, this trade probably wouldn't make many headlines, but it is sensible and could help the Warriors fill some holes they have.

The trade would be Buddy Hield and a 2nd round pick for Georges Niang.

Niang has yet to play this season as he recovers from a foot injury, but he is nearing his return. Should the Warriors take the risk by going for him anyway?

Losing Buddy Hield would hurt the Warriors emotionally, but not so much on the court. Hield hasn’t looked as good as he did a year ago, and his defense remains a problem.

Should the Warriors do this? It’s probably not worth it. Hield, while not playing his best basketball, still fits well in the Warriors' system and gets along great with everyone in the locker room. Trading him for someone who isn’t necessarily an impact player and is coming off a pretty severe injury just seems like a risk not worth taking.
