Warriors Could Pursue Impact Big Man on Trade Market

The Golden State Warriors might need to call in some reinforcements. The core of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green looks pretty solid, but the Warriors’ role players don’t seem quite ready to help them compete with the best in the Western Conference.

While the Warriors’ superstars continue to age, the pressure is on management to build the best team around them immediately. This season may look like a trade before the deadline. The Warriors trade rumors have begun.

Most of those rumors revolve around a Jonathan Kuminga trade. The Warriors and Kuminga just haven’t been able to figure out how to thrive together, and Kuminga is expected to be shopped around this NBA trade deadline.

One player who has been mentioned as a possible Warriors trade target is Myles Turner.

“An interesting potential salary match for Golden State in Kuminga’s salary range would be Bucks center Myles Turner, who’s earning $25.1 million this season. Don’t forget that the Warriors have shown some real interest in Turner in the past, according to league sources, dating to well-chronicled trade discussions between Golden State and Indiana that included various concepts involving Kuminga, Andrew Wiggins, and Buddy Hield.”

Swapping out Kuminga for Turner would be a huge upgrade for the Warriors. The Warriors are already undersized, and Turner would bring a defensive rim protector to the Warriors that they haven’t had in years.

Turner can also spread the floor, a skill that Quinten Post is showing to be very valuable in the Warriors' offense. This move may give the Warriors a bit of a logjam at center, but right now, Kuminga is getting DNPs, and Turner is still a very useful basketball player. This trade would be a no-brainer for the Warriors.
