J.B. Bickerstaff Addresses The Rumours Surrounding The Detroit Pistons Making A Big Splashy Trade

The Detroit Pistons took a major step forward a season ago, and this season they've taken it to another level, posting a record of 19-5 as they lead the entire Eastern Conference. With the young core of Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren and Jaden Ivey, this is a team that's become a major threat, but that hasn't stopped plenty of rumors circling them about a potential blockbuster deal.

From Anthony Davis to Giannis Antetokounmpo, Detroit have been linked to several potentially franchise altering deals, but thus far, they've not acted upon that speculation. Now, we may know why, as Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff recently addressed that idea, stating that the team decided not to panic after a little success, believing that this core needed the opportunity to prove themselves before making a deal.

“We made a decision this summer not to hit the panic button after a little success last year. Our guys earned the right to come back as a group and see what they could build on.”

That doesn't mean that they won't go out and try make a major splash ahead of the trade deadline, but it simply goes to show how much Bickerstaff and the front office believes in this current core group.

If their play keeps up, the Pistons could definitely be interested in making a move that improves their chances in the Eastern Conference, but as of right now, it appears that they're happy to ride out the success with their home grown stars.
