Victor Wembanyama Reminds Everyone Why He May Take the League By Storm
Oct 8, 2025
There is a new set of NBA stars that are about to take over the league. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the young Oklahoma City Thunder are at the forefront of everyone’s mind, but they aren’t the only rising talent that could be a problem for years to come.
Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs is about to be a dominant force in the NBA for a long time. Wemby is only 21 years old and is already the most formidable defender in the league. He has the offensive skills to be a superstar as well.
The only thing that could hold Wembanyama and the Spurs back from total dominance is injuries. Wembanyama’s 7-foot-4, slight frame is always going to put him at risk.
However, in Wembanyama’s preseason debut, he looked bigger, stronger, and better than ever. In the game, he filled up the stat sheet on both ends of the floor. He had nine points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks.

What is most scary, however, is that he looked a lot better than last season. Wemby spent a summer committed to improving both his mind and his body, and he is going to be an absolute nightmare for NBA offenses and defenses next season.
This preseason game was just a warning. If Wembanyama is able to stay on the floor for a full season, you will see him reach his destiny as what ESPN predicted would be a top-five player this season. And top-five isn’t where his trajectory will end. The sky is the limit for Wembanyama, and the league should absolutely fear what is coming.
