"Don't Bother Calling": Suns Owner Rejects Trade Proposal For Dillon Brooks On Social Media
Jan 6, 2026
The Phoenix Suns made some massive moves this past offseason, and after moving on from Kevin Durant, many expected them to struggle mightily this season. Shockingly, however, the team currently sits at 21–15, and despite being in the incredibly stacked Western Conference, they currently sit seventh in the standings.
With no draft picks for the future, however, some analysts have still looked at this roster and noted that they should move some pieces for future assets. That includes former NBA star DeMarcus Cousins, who suggested the team should look at offloading Dillon Brooks, a player they landed in the Durant-to-Houston trade this summer.
However, it was quickly shut down on social media by none other than Suns owner Mat Ishbia, who quickly told opposing teams not to bother calling on Brooks.
"Don't bother calling... Suns aren't interested. Dillon's not going anywhere."
This was a clear comment from the owner, and given the impact that Brooks makes on both ends of the floor and in the locker room, it's easy to see why this organization sees him as a long-term piece of the franchise.

This season, Brooks averages 21 points a night while playing relentless defense, and it's become clear that he's taken over as a locker-room leader alongside Devin Booker. Ultimately, with the Suns playing the way they are, it makes sense to hold on to this current roster, and with a potential shot at the NBA Playoffs, this could be a highly improbable season for this squad.
