Russell Westbrook Makes Incredible NBA History In His Latest Performance

Russell Westbrook has put together one of the most impressive careers in NBA history, with an MVP, the NBA record for triple-doubles, and almost two decades of very solid play for many teams. This past summer, however, he struggled to find a new team, despite averaging 13, 5, and 6 a year ago for the Denver Nuggets, with many believing his NBA career could have potentially been over.

Then, he landed with the Sacramento Kings, and with more responsibility on this team, he's showing once again that he can continue to dominate, as he has posted 15, 7, and 7 through his first 36 games. Now, he's made NBA history, as his latest performance saw him pass Oscar Robertson for another impressive mark.

Westbrook now has 26,732 total points, as he has passed Robertson as the highest-scoring point guard in league history, and he remains around 600 points ahead of Stephen Curry for the lead. While he certainly isn't the player we saw in his prime that averaged a triple-double over an entire season, Westbrook continues to find consistency, and while some fans certainly don't love him, he has proven year after year over an 18-season career that he's an elite NBA point guard.

Whether that results in an NBA Championship ring before the end of his career, only time will tell, but right now, given his aggressive play-style, it's impressive that Westbrook has dominated for so long, and now he's rightfully claimed an impressive piece of history.
