Shock Eastern Conference Team Emerges As Genuine Destination For Trae Young

Trae Young's future in Atlanta appears to revolve around a potential trade, with many in the NBA believing that the Hawks will finally move on from their All-Star point guard. There has been some pushback to that, but ultimately, it appears as though the team is going to pivot to building around the likes of Jalen Johnson and Dyson Daniels for their future.
As of right now, Young has been linked to many teams around the league, but recently, a shock Eastern Conference team has emerged as a potential landing spot for the 27-year-old.
According to Marc Stein, the Washington Wizards have emerged as a genuine landing destination for Young, and while it's not a place he'd likely prefer to go, they do have an intriguing group to build around. Depending on what they'd give up, the Hawks could pair Young with Kyshawn George, Bilal Coulibaly, and Alex Sarr, making them a very deep, talented team to watch out for in the future.

Because of that talent, Young may consider them a very good destination, and while he can't block a trade, he needs a long-term extension, and whether or not he'll sign that with a team that acquires him could change absolutely everything. On paper, it's a great match for Young, and while the Wizards have struggled for years, if they could land an All-Star point guard to pair with this young core, they could be a very intriguing contender in the Eastern Conference.
