Stephen A. Smith Reveals His One Knicks Untouchable In Giannis Trade Talks
Apr 8, 2026
For years, Stephen A. Smith has professed his love as a fan of the New York Knicks, and while the majority of Knicks fans reject his fandom given his ridiculous takes, he continues to talk about one of the biggest teams in the NBA. That's no surprise, and given how much speculation they are involved in, ESPN's face will continue to talk about his team and their future.
Recently, they've once again entered the national discussion about Giannis Antetokounmpo, with the two-time MVP opening up about the possibility that he's traded by the Milwaukee Bucks to the Mecca. Over the summer, many expect Leon Rose and the Knicks to make a push for the star forward once again, and according to Smith, there's just one untouchable on this current roster.
“Let me tell you who you give up for Giannis, everybody but Jalen Brunson.”
While the Knicks obviously aren't going to give up 'everyone' for an ageing and injured Giannis, even as a two-time MVP, it's safe to say that the Brunson-Antetokounmpo combination is one that could make this team a legitimate threat to the NBA Championship.

In 2025/26, Brunson has averaged an impressive 27 and 8 for the Knicks, and after back-to-back seasons of All-NBA, it's easy to see why fans want him to stay, as he's become the face of a once struggling franchise. Ultimately, it makes sense for the Knicks to pursue Giannis, especially if they fall short in their chase for NBA glory this season, but like Smith says, Brunson is the one untouchable on this current roster.
