Major Consequence Revealed For Giannis Antetokounmpo After Being Sat By The Bucks
Apr 8, 2026
The 2025/26 NBA season has been full of ups-and-downs, drama and speculation, and for the most part, that has all surrounded Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Surprisingly, the team didn't deal the two-time MVP at the 2026 trade deadline, and now, it appears as though that will happen at some point this summer.
That fact has all but been confirmed with the Bucks recent actions, as they have refused to play Giannis, despite the fact that he's been healthy, with even the NBA having to get involved in the situation. Obviously, that's had some effect for the Bucks, as the team have fallen further and further in the Eastern Conference standings, but now, another side effect of the situation in Milwaukee has been revealed.
According to a report from ESPN, this latest decision from the Bucks has had a negative effect on Antetokounmpo in another way, as he has been cost a 'significant bonus' from Nike as a part of his latest endorsement deal. It's unclear exactly how much he lost as a result of not being on the floor this season, but clearly, the Bucks decision to sit him has had more effect than anyone in Milwaukee could have expected.

Ultimately, this is a relationship that's clearly deteriorated to the point of more than likely ending this summer, and while there was plenty of success between them over the past decade, it's clear that it's become time to move on for both parties.
