Jayson Tatum Opens Up On His Long Awaited Return To Madison Square Garden

Last season, the Boston Celtics season ended in disappointment when they fell to the rival New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. That was a series that could have gone either way, but things turned in a big way at the end of Game 4 at Madison Square Garden when superstar Jayson Tatum went down with an achilles injury.

That was an injury that many expected would rule him out for the entirety of the 2025/26 regular season, much like it did for Tyrese Haliburton, even though his injury occurred a few weeks earlier. Now, despite all expectations, Tatum has been back for quite some time, and with the Celtics rolling, they look towards the NBA Playoffs full of confidence and optimism about their chances.

Before then however, they will take on those Knicks at MSG, and ahead of his first game since his injury at the World's Most Famous Arena, Tatum has opened up on his feelings about it.

“Nervousness, anxiousness, all the things you’d probably expect.”

Obviously, it was just a freak accident injury and didn't have anything to do with MSG itself, but given that this was his first major injury in his NBA career, it's no surprise that Tatum is nervous about his return to MSG.

With the post-season just a matter of days away, Tatum and the Celtics are hoping to get through the regular season at full health, and if they can do that, this will no doubt be a top contender in the East in the coming weeks.
