NBA Analyst Kendrick Perkins Calls Out One Top Team For Being Soft
Apr 9, 2026
The NBA Playoffs are almost upon us, and while many look at the top two or three teams in the West as the favorites for the NBA Championship, as we know, anything can happen in a seven-game series. In the East, there's some very competitive teams as well with the likes of New York, Detroit, Boston and Cleveland all presenting themselves as genuine threats, especially if they can get through the post-season healthy.
One team that many have waited for to make a deep run are the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have struggled to stay healthy in the playoffs in recent years. In 2025/26 however, they added James Harden, and with the team in full form heading into the playoffs, hopes are very high.
However, not everyone around the NBA believes in them, with NBA analyst and NBA Champion Kendrick Perkins calling the team out for being soft, singling out Evan Mobley in the process.
"The whispers around the NBA is that the Cleveland Cavaliers is soft. They're sponsored by hostess cupcakes because they creamy in the middle. I'm looking at Evan Mobley"
As of right now, Cleveland sit in the No. 4 seed in the East, with a matchup against either the Atlanta Hawks or the Toronto Raptors likely for their first round, giving them a tough test right away.

On paper, this is a team that could go on a deep run, but if Perkins is right and this team can't match up physically against the top teams in the East, it may be another disappointing playoff appearance for the Cavaliers.
