New Report Reveals The Final Straw For Two Chicago Bulls Executives
Apr 7, 2026
In recent years, the Chicago Bulls have struggled to escape mediocrity, and even with some solid draft picks, this is a team that's failed to get out of the 7-12 range in the Eastern Conference standings. As a result, the front office were looking for major change after a poor 2025/26 season, and before the regular season came to a close, they made a major splash that was a long time coming.
After being hired in 2020, the Bulls officially parted ways with Executive VP of Basketball Operations Arturas Karnisovas and General Manager Marc Eversley in a move that many saw coming. There were many reasons for this such as poor trades, a lack of superstar talent and no promise on the horizon, but now, the final straw in their tenure has been revealed.
According to Joe Cowley, the final straw for the Bulls ownership was the incident involving Jaden Ivey, as the Reinsdorf's saw this as an embarrassment to the franchise, feeling that after Ivey's outburst on social media, something needed to change.
Clearly, this wasn't the Bulls only issue, as their play on the floor has been immensely inconsistent over the past few years, but given how Ivey's situation developed, it's easy to see where the embarrassment came from for ownership.

Now that Ivey has been released, the internal hope is that the Bulls can move on from the situation with a new GM and VP of Basketball Operations, but clearly, this was the last in a string of issues with the team that caused this major change.
