Dillon Brooks Opens Up On His Arrival In Phoenix And His Eventual Retirement

For years now, Dillon Brooks has played his role in the NBA, and while it's not the most important role in the league, he has certainly managed to get the best out of each and every opportunity he's been given. Whether that was helping the young core in Memphis grow or the role he played in Houston, Brooks continues to excel, and when he arrived in Phoenix this summer, many underrated what his role for this team could have been.

Now, a few months later, this Phoenix Suns team is outperforming any pre-season expectations, and unsurprisingly, Brooks on both ends of the floor has played a key role in their surprise campaign. In his latest comments, Brooks opens up on how he didn't think Phoenix was the perfect fit for him, but in less than a season, he now sees himself there long-term.

“When guys get traded, they always say, 'This is the perfect fit.’ I’d be bullshi*ting if I said I knew it at the time. But I damn sure know it now. Phoenix is my spot. I want to set the culture here for 20 years. I want to retire a Sun.”

Not only that, but the 30-year old has also stated he wants to retire as a member of the Suns, and whether that means another 5 or 10 years, it would be a massive positive for the organization to have such a culture setter.

Ultimately, this was a tough fit at the time many thought, but given his play and his fit in the locker room, things have worked out for both parties, with everyone involved very happy with how things have played out.
