Draymond Green Reveals He's Glad That One Team Didn't Draft Him Back in 2012

Back in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors used the No. 35 overall pick on a young forward named Draymond Green out of Michigan State, a pick that many didn't believe would turn into much. Over the next 14 years however, he went on to prove everyone in the NBA wrong, as he became a key piece of the NBA's greatest modern day dynasty, helping lead the organization to four NBA Championships in that time.
If he hadn't of landed in Golden State, who knows what the future would have held for Green, as many organizations may not have had his back the way the Warriors did following his incidents on the floor. Now, Green has opened up on that possibility, addressing the speculation that he was almost drafted by the Miami Heat, a move that the controversial forward was happy didn't end up happening.
“I don’t think a place like Miami is the place for me. I’ve heard how they do things down there… To play with the BIG 3 would’ve been cool but I would’ve only played with them for 2 years… I’m not sure how I would’ve handled Pat Riley trying to test my body fat during that time.”
Pat Riley and the Heat's culture has been something that's drawn several players away from the organization, and for a player like Green, he simply wouldn't have fit that culture, and it's something he clearly recognizes.

Ultimately, had Green gone elsewhere, he may never have become the success story that he ended up being, and clearly, he's not too upset that he was allowed to play his entire career alongside Steph Curry.
