Chet Holmgren Continues Impressive Run With Latest Thunder Accomplishment
Apr 9, 2026
Coming into the NBA as the No. 2 overall pick back in 2022, Chet Holmgren was set to be a key piece of the Oklahoma City Thunder's future, and thus far, he appears to be living up to the hype. Across 183 games in his career, Holmgren averages a solid 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks a game, and given his play at both ends, it's easy to see why the team captured their first NBA Championship in 2025, pursuing another in 2026.
This season, they've looked every bit as good as they did a year ago, recently locking up the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, and home court all the way through as they look to go back-to-back. This continues a major trend of success for Holmgren, as he has now locked up the No. 1 seed in every single season of his basketball career, dating back to high school and his time at Minnehaha Academy.
In one year at Gonzaga, the team may have fallen short in the NCAA Tournament, but they entered as a No. 1 seed, and after missing the 2023 NBA season with injury, he's now been on a Thunder team with three straight No. 1 seed finishes in the West.

Sure, the big man out of Minnesota hasn't been perfect in that time, but his impact on both ends of the floor only grows throughout his career, and if he continues at this trajectory, he could end up as an all-time great in the NBA.
