Slovenian National Team Provide Positive Update on Luka Doncic Injury Scare
Aug 19, 2025
After a tumultuous 2024/25 campaign, Luka Doncic signed a massive extension with the Los Angeles Lakers this off-season as he looks to chase his first NBA Championship with the team. In preparation for the new season, Doncic has followed many other NBA stars to the upcoming EuroBasket tournament, which is expected to be one of the biggest events on the basketball calendar this off-season.
Unfortunately, in Slovenia's warmup game, Doncic collided with a teammate, going down to the floor and holding his knee in a move that had many Lakers fans extremely worried. Thankfully, it was revealed rather quickly that it was just a knee contusion, with Doncic avoiding any serious injury, although his status for the tournament came into question as a result.
The latest update is an even more positive one from Slovenia, as it has been revealed that Doncic has returned to practice on Monday, ruling out the chance that he misses any time ahead of EuroBasket and the 2025/26 NBA season.
Even with Doncic, this is a Slovenian team that are up against the odds in the tournament, with the team in the same group as France in this tournament, a team that many consider the heavy favourite.

With a healthy Doncic however, the team is full of optimism even in a loaded tournament full of great depth and NBA superstars, and for Lakers fans that were hoping to hear good news on the injury front, this is a great update as he continues to get healthy and fitter ahead of the new season.
