Zion Williamson Reveals His Frustrations With The New Orleans Pelicans

Since entering the NBA back in the 2019 NBA Draft, Zion Williamson has shown immense potential, but with an average of just 39 games played per season, he hasn't been the star that New Orleans had hoped. When healthy, the former No. 1 pick has averaged 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game, but unfortunately, they've made the NBA Playoffs just two times since Zion's arrival seven years ago.

That has clearly become a major source of frustration for the 25-year old, as he's recently opened up on the teams struggles, taking responsibility and admitting frustration that the team can't consistently make the post-season.

"I want to experience the playoffs...It's frustrating getting up here every year and not being in the playoffs. And I take my responsibility in that".

This year, the Pelicans ended in the 11th seed in the Western Conference, just one spot out of a play-in position as they posted a record of 26-56, something that the organization believe can be improved upon moving forward.

However, there are major positives for the future, with the likes of Derik Queen, Jeremiah Fears and Trey Murphy among others all giving this team a sense of optimism moving forward. Ultimately though, for this organization to have success, Zion will need to be the All-NBA caliber player that was expected when he entered the league, and if he can get there, perhaps they can be a playoff team in 2026/27.
