New York Knicks Coach Mike Brown Admits Their Team Is Motivated To Win The NBA Cup
Nov 28, 2025
The NBA Cup was brought into the league three seasons ago, and thus far, the New York Knicks have qualified for the knockout rounds in both. If they manage to qualify this season, they'll be the only team in the NBA to do so in all three tournaments thus far, with some teams around the league clearly not taking it as seriously as others.
According to Head Coach Mike Brown, it's something the Knicks take very seriously, adding that the pressure of the Cup is a good thing to learn from as they chase a spot in the NBA Finals this season.
"Yes, we talk about the NBA Cup. I think in life, pressure is a privilege, so you try to manufacture it from time to time. I think if you're in a situation where there is pressure, you're doing pretty good because obviously if you're competitive, you're going to put pressure on yourself no matter what. So trying to feel it from the outside a little bit as much as you can is a privilege, and it gets you ready for the postseason, in my opinion, so I bring it up to our guys."
With a victory over the Bucks in their next NBA Cup game, the Knicks will officially qualify at the top of their group, and while the NBA Cup isn't everything to NBA teams, Brown and the Knicks are approaching it the right way, and now we'll wait to see if that pays off when the NBA Playoffs arrive.
