New Orleans Pelicans Star Set For An 'Extended' Absence After Latest Injury
Dec 3, 2025
Zion Williamson came into the NBA with unbelievable hype back in 2019, and while the talent is still very clearly there, he has failed to live up to it. Unfortunately for Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans, many other young stars have come into the league and overtaken him, and now, the team is wondering if he's worth building around.
Those questions will only grow louder now as Williamson continues to deal with his injury issues, appearing in 62 or more games just once in his career thus far. On Tuesday, the team announced more bad news for the former No. 1 overall pick, as he is reportedly set to miss “extended time” with a right adductor injury.
This marks yet another season-defining injury for Williamson, who played in just 30 games a season ago. At 25 years of age, it's unclear if he'll ever be able to get through a full season healthy. Before this injury, Zion had appeared in just 10 games this season, yet he was still very productive, averaging 22 points, six rebounds, and four assists. If he can't stay healthy, he's simply not worth investing in for the Pelicans.

While Williamson still has the talent of a former No. 1 overall pick, he simply hasn't been able to stay healthy, and after seven seasons (one fully missed), he simply can't be trusted anymore, with this latest injury potentially being the final nail in the coffin for his time in New Orleans.
