NBA Set Christmas Day Record With 2025 Viewership

Christmas Day has become a major event in the North American sports calendar, and over the past 15 years, we've seen some incredible days from the NBA. In that time, we've seen iconic matchups between Golden State and Cleveland, among other major battles, and it's become clear that under Adam Silver, Christmas is being prioritized as a major day in the league calendar.

This season, we saw some of the NBA's biggest stars, like Jalen Brunson, LeBron James, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Steph Curry, Victor Wembanyama, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, all take to the stage. It paid off big time, according to recent reports, as it has been revealed that this was the best viewership for NBA Christmas in the past 15 years.

Not only that, but the games saw an increase in viewership of 45% from a year ago, and with so many competitive battles, it's very easy to see why fans were tuning in this year. This, on top of the NBA Cup, has been one of the two clear successes of Adam Silver's tenure as NBA Commissioner, and if he can keep things going this way, the NBA may own Christmas in comparison to the likes of the NFL.

Ultimately, it's unclear why fans were so invested on Christmas Day this year in comparison to the years preceding, but given all of the stars that were out and how competitive things were, it's safe to say that this was a home run for the NBA.
