Golden State Warriors 'Staunchly Against' Moving Two Key Veterans
Jan 1, 2026
The Golden State Warriors have been one of the NBA's most successful teams over the past 15 years, but in recent times, it has become clear that their dominant reign over the league has officially come to an end. That is despite still having Steph Curry playing at a high level, but around him, the level of play just isn't what it once was, and with no stars coming through the organization, the future looks bleak.
That's led some to suggest the team should consider moving a veteran, with some naming Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green as players that could potentially be moved. However, Sam Amick is now reporting that the team is 'staunchly against' the notion of trading either player, as they believe that with those two, this team can still be a threat in 2025–26.
“Team sources say they’re staunchly against the notion of trading either Draymond Green or Jimmy Butler, which creates quite a predicament when you’re trying to match salaries of high-level players.”
Currently, the Warriors sit at 18–16 on the year with wins in five of their past six, and with a balance of young players and veterans, this is a team that could still surprise in the Western Conference.

One way they won't surprise, however, is in dealing one of their big-name veterans, but if things don't go their way in 2025–26, expect them to potentially address the idea in the summer ahead, with Curry's time in the NBA clearly running out.
