NBA Reporter Reveals the Package New Orleans Offered Memphis To Land Ja Morant
Jan 27, 2026
The Ja Morant situation in Memphis has been one to monitor for much of the 2025–26 season, and now, it appears we are quickly heading toward a resolution. Recently, reports and comments from Morant have hinted that the former No. 2 overall pick may be staying with the Grizzlies moving forward, but if the right offer comes in, there's always a chance that he'll be moved.
Now, a report from Brandon Robinson has unveiled the offer that the New Orleans Pelicans gave to the Grizzlies in exchange for Morant, who many believe desperately needs a change of scenery in the NBA.
Obviously, the deal wasn't accepted, as Morant remains in Memphis, and according to all reports, the team was ready to take the deal if a first-round pick was attached by the Pelicans. Already, we know the team doesn't have its unprotected 2026 first-round draft pick, and given how heartbreaking that trade has been for the organization already, it makes sense as to why they don't want to include another pick to get this deal done.

Recent reports have also revealed that no team in the NBA is willing (at this time) to give up a first-round pick for Morant, so the deal involving Dejounte Murray and Jordan Poole may be the best one that they get. On paper, this is a solid deal for a seemingly depreciating asset in Morant, and if the Grizzlies don't accept this one, it's likely that No. 12 will remain in Memphis beyond the trade deadline.
