Some Knicks Players Called Out For Not Embracing Team Identity

The New York Knicks entered the 2025–26 season with immense expectations, but thus far, they've failed to live up to them, despite sitting in third place in the overall Eastern Conference standings. Recently, they've gone 4–9 in their last 13 games, and given the overwhelming hype built around this team in New York, there's been plenty of panic among the media and the fanbase.

The biggest change this team made after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals a year ago was on the bench, with Tom Thibodeau being moved on for former Kings head coach Mike Brown. Despite some positive signs, the struggles as of late have revealed plenty about this team, and now, Ian Begley is reporting that there's a major issue within this team about embracing the idea of a team, rather than individuals.

"The interesting thing to me in digging around when the Knicks were struggling, something that kept coming up again and again was that not everyone was fully bought into their roles. Not everyone was fully bought into the 'we over me' team concept."

At the professional level, this is likely always going to be a problem to some degree, but after what Thibodeau built, clearly, egos have now started to get in the way in New York.

It's unclear who this report is about, but given the recent speculation over Karl-Anthony Towns, it's become clear that the front office is looking to change things up, because if they don't, this season could end up as a disappointment in New York.
